ZeroSpace Ranked Mode
Climb the ZeroSpace ranked ladder in 1v1 and 2v2. Learn queue rules, Xol ranked status at Early Access launch, loadout locks, and how ranked differs from Galactic War.
Competitive ladder at Early Access launch
Ranked in ZeroSpace ships on day one of Steam Early Access (July 20, 2026) with separate 1v1 and 2v2 ladders. Matches use standard RTS rules —economy, control towers, hero combat, and mercenary synergies —with MMR-style ranking that rewards consistent wins against similarly rated opponents. Ranked is distinct from Galactic War, which layers a seasonal galactic map and alliance co-op over individual RTS drops.
Your loadout —main faction, mercenary, and hero —pulls from the same persistent progression as skirmish and campaign. Plan combinations in the loadout builder and validate them in unranked skirmish before committing to a ranked grind during launch week.
Starlance Studios confirmed the synthetic Xol faction is playable in skirmish, campaign, and co-op at launch but excluded from ranked matchmaking until further community balance testing. Protectorate, Grell, and Legion are ranked-ready from July 20. Watch Steam news for the Xol ranked enable patch.
Ranked versus skirmish and Galactic War
Skirmish offers custom AI difficulty, casual human lobbies, and free-for-all formats without rating changes —use it to rehearse build orders from the how to play guide. Ranked locks competitive rulesets and updates your visible ladder standing. Galactic War scores alliance territory during Season Zero (through August 2, 2026) rather than personal 1v1 MMR, though RTS skill expression overlaps.
- 1v1 ranked — Classic duel ladder; map control and scouting mercenary counters decide most games.
- 2v2 ranked — Team coordination on shared economy and dual-hero timing; comms or ping discipline strongly recommended.
- First Contact Invitational — Invited pros compete on a parallel showcase ladder July 20–August 8 with a $13,000 prize pool and finals on August 9 —see the Invitational page.
Many players warm up in Survival co-op for micro practice, then queue ranked once control groups and tower timings feel automatic.
Meta loadouts and climbing tips
Early Access ranked metas favor stable triples over gimmick swaps. Protectorate + Marran + Grace remains the safest starter climb per current PvP meta builds; Grell expansion lines reward players who read control tower timings. Track Invitational VODs during launch week —pro mercenary counters often appear in loadout tier lists within days.
Scout enemy mercenary within the first minute and adjust tower commits —Invitational casters emphasize this habit repeatedly. Save fight-winning hero actives for objective contests, not farm skirmishes. Review replays for production gaps: floating resources while supply-blocked loses more ranked games than imperfect micro.
Balance patches during Season Zero can shift optimal mercenary pairings overnight. Bookmark your main faction page and the PvP tier list after each Steam news update.
Getting started on the ladder
- Complete medium AI skirmish wins with one planned loadout.
- Configure keybindings and QoL settings for ranked sessions.
- Read launch week priorities if joining during Season Zero overlap.
- Queue 1v1 first unless you have a dedicated 2v2 partner —solo queue 2v2 demands extra coordination.
- After each session, note which mercenary broke your comp and adjust in the loadout builder before re-queueing.
